THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION,
Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,
Having regard to Regulation (EU) No 525/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2013 on a mechanism for monitoring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions and for reporting other information at national and Union level relevant to climate change and repealing Decision No 280/2004/EC, and in particular Article 19(6) thereof,
Whereas:
(1) After the adoption of the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/1953, the Commission identified an error, namely the amount of greenhouse gas emissions covered by Decision of the European Parliament and of the Council No 406/2009/EC set out for the United Kingdom in the Annex thereof.
(2) In order to ensure legal certainty, it is necessary to correct Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/1953.
(3) This Decision should enter into force on the day of its publication so that the procedural steps foreseen in Articles 73b and 73g of Commission Regulation (EU) No 389/2013 can be carried out before 9 September 2023, the date when the compliance period of the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol comes to its end,
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
In the table in Annex to Decision (EU) 2022/1953, in the row for the United Kingdom, second column, the figure 298936220 is replaced by the figure 296123996.
Article 2
This Decision shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
