THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE,
Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38, third paragraph thereof,
Having regard to Council Decision (CFSP) 2019/2110 of 9 December 2019 on the European Union CSDP Advisory Mission in the Central African Republic (EUAM RCA), and in particular Article 8(1) thereof,
Whereas:
(1) Pursuant to Article 8(1) of Decision (CFSP) 2019/2110, the Political and Security Committee (PSC) is authorised, in accordance with Article 38, third paragraph, of the Treaty, to take the relevant decisions for the purpose of exercising political control and strategic direction of the European Union CSDP Advisory Mission in the Central African Republic (EUAM RCA), including the decision to appoint a Head of Mission upon a proposal of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (the High Representative).
(2) On 27 August 2025, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2025/1773, appointing Ms Gail VAN HOEVER as Head of Mission of EUAM RCA from 15 September 2025 to 7 August 2026.
(3) On 30 June 2026, the High Representative proposed to extend the mandate of Ms Gail VAN HOEVER as Head of Mission of EUAM RCA from 8 August 2026 to 7 November 2026, subject to the adoption of a decision by the Council extending the mandate of EUAM RCA beyond 7 August 2026.
(4) A decision on the appointment of Ms Gail VAN HOEVER as Head of Mission of EUAM RCA from 8 August 2026 to 7 November 2026 should therefore be taken,
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
The mandate of Ms Gail VAN HOEVER as Head of Mission of the European Union CSDP Advisory Mission in the Central African Republic (EUAM RCA) is extended from 8 August 2026 to 7 November 2026.
Article 2
This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption. It shall apply subject to the adoption of a decision by the Council extending the mandate of EUAM RCA beyond 7 August 2026.
