Takedown and corrections

How to tell us that something in Gelex is wrong, or should not be there — and what we do then. We would rather fix an error today than have anyone rely on it.

These pages may still change
Gelex has not launched yet. We may still adjust these pages before launch, for example once we have appointed our data protection officer. Every change is dated in the changelog at the foot of the page.

1. Report an error

If a text, a version date, a citation address or a grade is wrong — or a provision that should be there is missing — write to support@gelex.eu with the link to the document (every document has a permanent link) and what is wrong. Where you can, include the official publication that shows it.

We check against the publisher's own text, correct the corpus at its next build, and tell you what we did. Corrections never rewrite history: if we published a wrong version, the fix is recorded, so a citation made earlier can still be traced.

2. Ask for removal

If you believe something in the service is unlawful — for example personal data in a court decision that the court has since anonymised, or material we may not hold — send a notice to legal@gelex.eu containing:

  1. why you consider it unlawful;
  2. the exact location: the document link and, where possible, the provision or paragraph;
  3. your name and email address (not needed for a notice of child sexual abuse material);
  4. a statement that you believe in good faith that the notice is accurate and complete.

3. What we do

We confirm receipt, decide promptly and objectively, and tell you the decision and why, with how to challenge it. Where we remove or restrict something, we keep a record and, where the source is a public authority's publication, align with that authority's current version.

We confirm a notice within two working days and decide within 14 days. A report of personal data a court has since anonymised is acted on within two working days.

A notice that concerns a threat to someone's life or safety, or child sexual abuse material, is restricted the same day we see it, and decided after. Restricting takes the text out of the service until the decision.

4. Points of contact
